About this service

A psychotraumatological consultation is intended for people who have experienced traumatic events – violence, accidents, loss of loved ones, abuse or other difficult experiences. Frequently asked questions

Will I have to talk about the trauma at the first meeting?▼

No. The first consultation is for assessing how the trauma affects your current functioning and for planning the work. There is no obligation to go into the details of the event until you are ready and stable enough.

What is EMDR therapy?▼

It is a structured method of working with traumatic memory in which recalling a memory is accompanied by bilateral stimulation, most often eye movements. EMDR is recommended in WHO and NICE guidelines for the treatment of PTSD. At the consultation, the psychotraumatologist assesses whether it is the right method in your case.

Does trauma from many years ago still matter?▼

Yes. Post-traumatic symptoms - nightmares, hypervigilance, avoidance, a sense of numbness - can persist for years after the event and respond well to treatment regardless of when it happened.

How much does a psychotraumatological consultation cost?▼

220 PLN for 50 minutes. It is a diagnostic meeting after which you and the specialist agree on a plan for further work.
